Mamta Mishra
Board of directors, President
Mamta Jha Mishra was born in India. She did her Masters in English literature from Delhi University of India and Master’s in Special Education from Jacksonville University, Alabama, U.S.A. She graduated with Summa Cum Laude. She received a Certificate of Completion from Harvard Business School Core Curriculum in 2020, Diploma in Computer Information System, and Certification in Yoga.
Mamta lives in Gadsden, Alabama with her husband Dr. Pranav Mishra and two sons - Ankur and Parag. She has published a book - Autism: Our Journey and Finding Happiness. It compiles 20 years of the journey in dealing with Autism, through her son Parag. Mamta is an entrepreneur, she founded the company PM Candles and Cosmetics, https://pmcandles.com/ - a venture to help her son Parag excel in his vocation of making candles and Ayurvedic cosmetics! The vision through this venture is to incorporate more special needs individuals and help them in their “Pursuit of Happiness!” and financial independence.
She started The Annual Autism Conference “Together We Can Make A Difference,” in Gadsden Alabama in 2022. Her vision is to share this conference on a digital platform all over the world. She speaks on Autism and share her expertise and experience through conferences and seminars. She brings Autism Awareness and acceptance through talks, TV interviews, and Facebook blog.
Apart from being a dedicated mother and a teacher, she also loves organic gardening, yoga, and CrossFit. She has run two marathons - Seven Bridges Marathon, Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Utah Valley Marathon, Provo, Utah, and a few half marathons.
Anthony C. Metcalfe, MD
Board of Directors, Secretary/Treasurer
Anthony was born in Canada but has lived in the United States since 1995. He was proud to become an American citizen in 2005 and has lived in Gadsden since 2009. He holds a MD from Memorial University of Newfoundland, an MBA from the State University of New York at Binghamton and graduated cum laude from Creighton University School of Law. Through his medical practice as a family physician, he has seen the many faces of autism and the impact it has on families and caregivers. He is a serial entrepreneur who owns and manages three businesses in Gadsden. He is active at St. James Catholic Church and is also a beekeeper, marathon runner and chess player. He is married to Marie Metcalfe who recently retired from being a local pharmacist.
